Family

Friends- notice that I have added a new page to my blog called “Our Foster-Adopt Story.”

Who grows up thinking that they will not be able to get pregnant and have a baby? We all know it happens. But we never expect it to happen to us.

This is my story.

Yes, my hubby and I have grieved. Yes, our hearts have hurt and we have shed tears. Yes, we have questioned.  Yes, Mother’s Day and Father’s Days have been hard. Yes, seeing a pregnant woman has sometimes ripped my heart up. Yes, there have been times I have had to avoid Facebook.

This is my story.

I love children now more than ever. You can often find me rolling around the ground with some of the kiddos at our church on Sunday mornings. 🙂 After years of infertility, the desire to be a mom has continued to grow and get stronger. I am excited.

This is my story.

I feel blessed. Truly I do. Our children will not be biological, but they will be our children. They will hold our hearts.  We will love them deeply. We will protect them.  We will pursue their hearts. With God’s grace, we will love them in and through their pain. We will teach them about the Lord. We will bandage their scraped knees. We will laugh with them. We will cry with them.  We will pray with them.  We will be family.

This is my story.

The privilege of foster-adopting. We don’t yet know our children, but we pray for them often.  Will God bless us with siblings? Will he bless us with one child?  Will he bless us with three children? Will they be all boys? All girls? What ages will they be?

This is my story.

Yes, my life is different than I thought it would be. But I am seeing that I was dreaming too small.  My heart is full. Our life is rich. I honestly can’t imagine having kids any other way.  It is not second best.  It is a gift, a privilege. One in which we look forward to with hope.

Thank You Lord for my story!

  3. This brings tears of both joy and sorrow Lori. Your parenthood will reach so many. I respect your marriage so deeply and do not understand the Lord’s ways. I admit to feeling scared about being a new mom when there are so many things my young marriage has yet to grow through and wishing we were more solid as you and Doug. It seems that whatever the situation – God is still singing and delighting in us as His children with our unmet longings. Many blessings dear one!

  6. Oh Lori, there is just so much love in you and your story. In the end I believe that love for a child is love for a child, whether or not they are our biological children or not. I know you will have a home filled with joy and laughter and that you will make the world a better place through your generous and loving spirit.

  8. Dearest Lori, as a Mom to Five (fraternal twins age 4, 6, 8 and almost 10 y.o.going on 21-Ha!) Let me say they are beyond a blessing to us !!! The most important of all my friend is LOVE! Nothing is more important…Whatever their age, gender, you will love. I’ll loan one or two of mine to you for a spell. The Lord may still bless you of the experience of acute morning sickness, expanding belly, a few stretch marks, awful long Labor Pains (it is an ouch!) WORTH IT IN THE END… For Love… Best Wishes to you always…Only tears of Joy. Cheryl

  9. Oh, Lori. Dearest Lori. Big Hugs and many prayers headed your way! Being a parent is about much more than sharing someone’s DNA! It’s about unconditional love and caring and always knowing someone has your back. I know your hurt and pain is real and deep. I have went through a miscarriage and the loss of my son when he was 10…more Hugs!!!! God can heal all hurts and God can fill all voids!!!

I’m not sure if you know this about me but I am adopted. My adoption story is NOT a blessed one…in fact, it was a bit of a nightmare. My adoptive parents should have never been allowed to foster children, let alone adopt them. I just know that any child blessed enough to find themselves in your care will be so very happy and will not have a want or need in the world.

You are going to be an amazing mom and I can’t wait to hear more about your adoption story (I Hope you will be sharing at least some of it here withe us!!) Many many Hugs and prayers for you and the hubs and for your family as you got through this!!! Love ya, girlie! xoxo

  10. Thank you for sharing your heartfelt and loving story with your readers, Lori. Just think of the huge support team you have cheering for you and your husband now! God will soon fill the void you have felt with a child(ren) who are feeling a void in their lives as well…it will be a match made in heaven! I pray that the day you meet him, her or them arrives soon… and you can begin creating beauty as a family. ❤

I may not have the same situation as yours, but I feel your pain. But fortunately, you know where to turn to or whom to call. God works in mysterious ways and I know He’ll be able to grant whatever your heart desires. I am sure you and your hubby will both make amazing parents. Good luck and God bless you always. Hugs to you my dear friend. ❤
